Biography

Ian was born in Brooklyn, New York. His father is Fyvush Finkel, the Emmy award-winning actor (Picket Fences, Boston Public). Ian studied with Walter Rosenberger who was the xylophonist of the New York Philharmonic.

Most recently Ian co-wrote with his brother Elliot Finkel, pianist, a new album for Fyvush entitled, “It’s Never Too Late.” This most recent album features Fyvush, with Ian Elliot and a band made up of top New York studio musicians.

Ian’s wife is Cheryl Ann Allen who is currently touring with the show “Sophie Tucker in Person” which Ian wrote.

Ian has few hobbies as he practices five hours a day and writes for another six but he can probably tell you quite a bit about his passion: cigars.
